Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel cell capable of stopping supply of fuel and/or air at an abnormal heating and capable of suppressing further abnormal heating. SOLUTION: A melting porous membrane 21A is arranged between a cathode electrode 11 of an electrode structural body 10 (a power generation part) and an outer packaging member 15; and a melting porous membrane 21B is arranged between an anode electrode 13 and a fuel vaporizing part 16. The melting porous membranes 21A, 21B can be composed of a low melting point resin insoluble to fuel (methanol), or can be composed jointly of a porous film and a low melting point polyolefin system wax. At an abnormal heating of the fuel cell 1, the melting porous membranes 21A, 21B are thermally fused and voids (pores) vanish to reliably shutdown supply of fuel and/or air.
