Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air conditioner for a vehicle capable of subdividing any divided region in relation to a value of state information on a vehicle in a correspondence table for showing a relation between the state information and air conditioning setting according to fluctuation of an environmental condition; and its control method. SOLUTION: This air conditioner has a storing part 51 for storing the correspondence table for dividing the range of a possible value in at least one state information on the vehicle acquired by a state information acquiring part 3 into the plurality of divided regions and showing an optimum set value on a prescribed set item of the air conditioner for each divided region, a recommended operation determining part 53 for determining an optimum set value on the prescribed set item by referring to the obtained state information and the correspondence table, an air conditioning control part 54 for controlling an air-conditioning part 2 for supplying air-conditioned air into the vehicle to have the optimum set value, and a subdivided region determining part 56 for determining the divided regions to be subdivided.
