Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To extend a conducting angle of input current by simple control to improve a power factor and to obtain a large output. SOLUTION: A power supply apparatus includes: rectifying circuits 3a to 3d; a reactor 2; first and second switching means 8, 9 that connect and disconnect a current route; a power factor improvement capacitor 5; a phase improvement capacitor 6; a smoothing capacitor 4; a zero cross detecting means 31 that outputs a zero cross detection signal of an alternating-current power supply 1; first and second detection signal delay means 32a, 32b that output first and second zero cross delay signals when a prescribed time passes after the zero cross detection signal is received; an alternating-current voltage detecting means 33; and a switch control means 30 that controls the first and second switching means 8, 9. The switch control means 30 outputs a pulse signal for: turning on the first switching means 8 when a first zero cross delay signal is received; turning on the second switching means 9 when a second zero cross delay signal is received; and turning off the first and second switching means 8, 9 when a voltage value detected by the alternating-current voltage detecting means 33 is received.
