Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image generating apparatus capable of guaranteeing the genuineness of an image comprising a plurality of layers highly accurately, and identifying a tampered part if the image is tampered. SOLUTION: As for an MRC (Mixed Raster Contents) system image comprising a plurality of layers containing a mask layer, layers other than the mask layer are selected out of the plurality of layers as embedded layers. One or a plurality of layers other than the embedded layers are selected as hash value extraction layers. A hash value is computed for every block of the selected hash value extraction layers.
