Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air conditioner for securing reliability of an electrostatic atomizer by stopping the operation of the electrostatic atomizer in a high load condition. SOLUTION: The electrostatic atomizer 9 includes a Peltier element 36, a discharge electrode 38 and a high voltage transformer 24 serving as a power source of the discharge electrode 38. The Peltier element 36 condenses moisture from air outside an air blowing passage of the air conditioner and supplies the moisture to the discharge electrode 38, and electrostatic mist is supplied to a flow of air conditioned after passing through a heat exchanger 6 arranged on the air blowing passage. By using an indoor temperature detecting device 51 or an indoor humidity detecting device 52, the air conditioner determines whether or not a high load operation condition of the electrostatic atomizer 9 is achieved. In the high load condition, the operation of the electrostatic atomizer 9 is stopped to eliminate unnecessary operation, so as to improve the reliability of the electrostatic atomizer 9.
