Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simultaneously display images and read an object, especially to simultaneously read both the sides of an object, such as a document, by simple operation, and to simultaneously display the reading result of both the sides. SOLUTION: An image display/image detection apparatus includes a casing that is folded in two. On two opposing inner surfaces while the casing is folded, a second display/photosensor section 300B for displaying an image is arranged on one inner surface and a first display/photosensor section 300A for detecting a nearby image is arranged on the other inner surface opposingly. The second display/photosensor section 300B displays a scan mount region R1 indicating a region for placing the object. The first display/photosensor section 300A detects the image of the object in a region opposite to the scan mount region R1 displayed by the second display/photosensor section 300B, while the casing has been folded.
