Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device which can be miniaturized by reducing the number of components. SOLUTION: An upper case 2 is formed of reflective material, a first opposite wall 17 opposite to an outer peripheral surface of a light guide plate 7 is vertically disposed in one body and, in the first opposite wall 17, a liquid crystal cell 5 etc. is stored. A printed circuit board 9 on which LEDs functioning as backlights are mounted is attached to the upper case 2 so as to cover the light guide plate 7 by using an elastic engagement piece 19. Light emitted from the LEDs is introduced into the light guide plate 7 from a light guide 7e of the light guide plate 7, diffused by a diffusion sheet 6 and, thereafter, illuminated to the liquid crystal cell 5 from the back.
