Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ejection amount counting device which corresponds to various structures about a plurality of stages of ejection amounts and a number of fluids. SOLUTION: A printer is equipped with a print head that can eject inks of four colors at four stages of color depths and two counter circuits 30 each for counting an amount of ink at each of color depths. In the counter circuit 30, a conversion decoder 32 converts ejection amount data fetched in four bits to four-bit data correlated beforehand to either one of a plurality of counters 43a-43d, 53a-53d, the converted data is output to the respective counters, and the eight counters provided in the counter circuit 30 count the ejection amounts of inks. The counter circuit 30 switches, by using selectors 33a-33f, between a mode A in which counting in two colors at four stages of color depths is performed by two counter units concurrently and a mode B in which counting in one color at eight color depths is alternatively performed by two counter units.
