Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the resistance of the common-side external electrode of a piezoelectric actuator which is used for a liquid droplet discharging head, and at the same time, to miniaturize the piezoelectric actuator. SOLUTION: A plurality of piezoelectric element columns 21 of this piezoelectric actuator 13 are formed by groove-processing a piezoelectric element member 14 excepting the end sections in the longitudinal direction. The external electrode 20 of a common electrode 22 is installed on the ungrooved end surfaces in the longitudinal direction of the piezoelectric element member 14. An FPC 7 is connected with the external electrode 20, and the resistance value of the common electrode 22 is made sufficiently small by making the area of the external electrode 20 of the common electrode 22, to which currents from individual electrodes 23 are concentrated, into a sufficient size. Thus, characteristic defects by the slipping of the driving timing or the local heating of the piezoelectric actuator 13 is prevented from occurring. COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT
