PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface light source device capable of easily reducing generation of brightness unevenness in the surface light source device of a large area using a point-like primary light source without causing rise in manufacturing cost. SOLUTION: This device is equipped with a light guide plate 3 in which a plurality of through-holes 3a of arrangement aligned in a row extending from a light-emitting face to the rear face are formed, an LED unit 1 arranged corresponding respectively to the through-holes 3a and equipped with an LED light source 1b to emit light into the through-holes, and a light control member 4a to cover the through-holes 3a on the light-emitting face side. The light control member 4a includes a diffusion reflecting member arranged so as to block the through-holes 3a, and a plurality of micro holes opened in the diffusion reflecting member, and an opening rate of the micro holes of the diffusion reflecting member is 10% or more. The light control member 4a is joined to and retained at a first region of one face of a transparent film, and forms a light control unit 4.
