Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a brake control device capable of enhancing the safety of a vehicle by detecting a state in which the backup function of a brake device is failed. SOLUTION: The brake control device comprises a first boosting mechanism capable of increasing the pressure in a wheel cylinder according to the brake operating amount, a first control unit of the first boosting mechanism, a second boosting mechanism capable of increasing the pressure in the wheel cylinder, and a second control unit of the second boosting mechanism. The brake control device has the backup function that, when the first boosting mechanism cannot increase the pressure in the wheel cylinder, the first control unit transmits the signal to the second control unit, and based on the signal, the second control unit controls the second boosting mechanism to increase the pressure in the wheel cylinder; and a backup function failure detection means for detecting any abnormal state by the second boosting mechanism when the second boosting mechanism cannot increase the pressure in the wheel cylinder, and limits the vehicle performance and the brake performance, giving an alarm to a driver.
