Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recycling method for refractory waste capable of suppressing expansion in use as a civil engineering material of refractory waste containing magnesia-based refractory waste for recycling, as the civil engineering material, refractory waste generated while performing steel manufacture in the case where magnesia-based refractory waste is contained. SOLUTION: In order to use refractory waste containing magnesia-based refractory waste as one application of civil engineering work, MgO in the magnesia-based refractory waste is hydrated by using an aging process of maintaining the refractory waste containing magnesia-based refractory waste for 30 hours or more under a pressurizing vapor atmosphere of less than 0.3 MPa or of maintaining the refractory waste for less than 30 hours under a pressurizing vapor atmosphere of 0.3 MPa inclusive to 1.0 MPa exclusive. Otherwise, expansion is suppressed from occurring in use as the civil engineering material by using the aging process of maintaining the refractory waste for 30 hours or more under the pressurizing vapor atmosphere of 0.3 MPa inclusive to 1.0 MPa exclusive and previously completing a hydrating reaction of MgO in the magnesia-based refractory waste.
