Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a fluorine-containing olefin compound in a short process in a high yield under a mild condition using an industrially available raw material of a specific fluorine-containing compound. SOLUTION: In the method for producing an olefin compound represented by the formula (2): RfCH=CHRf (wherein Rf is a 1-3C perfluoroalkyl group or a hydrogen-containing fluoroalkyl group; X and Y are each a halogen atom selected from chlorine, bromine and iodine and X and Y each may be the same or different) by bringing a fluorine-containing halogen compound represented by the formula (1): RfCHXY into contact with zinc to give a reaction solution and contacting the reaction solution with a copper halide, the reaction solution has an absorbance of ≤0.2 at 300 nm.
