Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a binocular stereo video microscope apparatus composed of optical elements and presenting a stereo image to an examiner by returning the imaging relationships to a normal state without using an inverter device to invert the imaging relationships. SOLUTION: The binocular stereo video microscope apparatus comprises observatory optical systems 7 and 8 to form the images of an examined eye; a monitor device 17 to present the respective examined eye images; a lens 6 interposed between the examined eye and an objective lens; a switch SW2 to eliminate up-down, or left-right inverted relationships of the examined eye images formed in respective image receiving elements through the observatory optical systems 7 and 8; and an image processing circuit 13 to generate a composite image. The image processing circuit 13 composes the examined eye image formed on a left image receiving element and the examined eye image formed on a right image receiving element as the composite image while retaining the relationships between the images as they are regardless of the interposition of the lens 6, and presents the examined eye image as a regular image by changing the scanning for reading the composite image according to the state of the switch SW2.
