Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suitably prevent generation of incorrect counting which accidentally counts the number of user's steps. SOLUTION: In a portable telephone set applicable to a portable terminal, an acceleration sensor detects acceleration produced in the portable terminal, and generates a detection signal, a register of the acceleration sensor records count data about the user's steps accompanying to movement of the portable terminal based on the detection signal, a control unit counts user's steps based on the recorded count data, voice is rumbled using a speaker, and counting of the user's steps by the counting means stops when the voice starts rumbling.
