Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a groove processing method in which groove processing can be completed in a short time and generation of a burr is suppressed, when a groove is processed on a discharge surface, in order to enable discharging at a low voltage by causing an electric field concentration through reduction of the tip area. SOLUTION: The groove processing method on a discharge surface of a spark plug electrode tip uses a wire-type cutting device to cut using a wire of 0.08-0.3 mm and forms a groove at a groove processing planned portion of the discharge surface of the electrode tip of the spark plug. Then, the boundary of the side face and the bottom face of the groove is smoothed into a curved shape, thereby the occurrence of cracks due to shocks, or the like, from the outside is suppressed.
