Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a base isolation device capable of minimizing cost, by compactly reducing a space in a base isolation pit, while securing both a severe vibration allowable value required for microvibration at normal time and safety against a big earthquake. SOLUTION: This base isolation device has an elastic sliding bearing 16 for installing a fixing side sliding plate 20 on a lower footing 12 and installing layered rubber 24 having integrally a sliding material 22 contacting with the sliding plate 20 on an upper footing 14, and an oil damper 18 for microvibration having one end installed on a support 38 arranged on the upper footing 14 and having the other end connected to an installation member 42 arranged on the sliding material 22 side. The oil damper 18 for microvibration is arranged by two pieces in both side positions of at least the layered rubber 24 by crossing the center line of passing through both side parts of the layered rubber 24 at a right angle with the axis.
