Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To remove carbon deposited in the electrode of a fuel cell while continuing power generation, and to improve durability of a fuel cell system. SOLUTION: In this fuel cell system having a fuel cell B to generate power by bringing two kinds of gas into flow contact with a fuel electrode and an air electrode respectively in a solid electrolyte cell, a flow rate adjusting part 20 to increase and decrease the circulation amount of one gas out of the two kinds of gas which flows into the fuel cell B is disposed, and a carbon deposition detecting sensor 10 to detect carbon deposition of the fuel electrode, a carbon deposition determining means 30a to determine the increase and decrease of the amount of carbon deposition detected by the carbon deposition detecting sensor 10, and a gas flow rate adjusting means 30b to adjust the flow rate of only one gas through the flow rate adjusting part 20, when it is determined by this carbon deposition detecting means 30a that there is a prescribed increase and decrease in the amount of the carbon deposition are provided.
