Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a combustion control device for suitably controlling a combustion state by properly selecting an index having a suitable detection characteristic from a plurality of combustion state indexes showing the combustion state. SOLUTION: The combustion control device calculates a heat generation rate 200 based on a cylinder pressure of an engine detected by a pressure sensor. The combustion control device detects a crank angle 204 when the heat generation rate 200 rises and exceeds a prescribed threshold 202 set in advance as ignition timing, and detects a crank angle 212 corresponding to 50% of an integrated total which is obtained by integrating the heat generation rate up to the prescribed crank angle that fuel injection is executed and combustion is completed in one combustion cycle as MFB50. The combustion control device determines whether a maximum value of the heat generation rate 200 is smaller than the threshold 202 or not or determines whether the tilt of the heat generation rate 200 is equal to or less than the prescribed value or not, and thereby, the ignition timing or MFB50 is properly selected as the index of the combustion timing which is used as the target for feedback-controlling injection timing.
