Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a carbon nanotube aggregate excellent in dispersibility and to provide a method for producing the above carbon nanotube aggregate, in particular, a carbon nanotube aggregate comprising a single to several layers and having a high graphite structure that forms a firm bundle, through a more easily treatment process with a high yield. SOLUTION: The production method of a carbon nanotube aggregate is characterized in that a crude carbon nanotube aggregate containing carbon impurities is subjected to an oxidation treatment until the carbon nanotube aggregate shows weight reduction of not more than 5 wt.% when left to stand in an air atmosphere at 500°C for 3 hours.
