Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a silica gel having markedly high moisture absorption both under low and high humidity conditions, a paper carrying the silica gel and a silica gel element, and to provide a production method of the silica gel enabling easy synthesis. SOLUTION: In the silica gel, the peak (maximum value) of pore size distribution is present within the range of ≤2.5 nm, and the ratio (V1)/(V2) of the total volume (V1) of pores sized 10-25 nm to the total volume (V2) of pores sized 2-25 nm is 0.15-0.4.
