Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel spun yarn capable of simultaneously reflecting to woven and knit fabrics heat storing and heat preserving effects owing to the sunlight and specific functions which natural fiber or regenerated fiber has, and a method for efficiently producing the spun yarn. SOLUTION: The spun yarn comprises 20-90 mass% synthetic fiber having 30-250 mm fiber length, 80-10 mass% natural fiber and/or regenerated fiber and a near infrared ray absorbent and has ≤50% reflectance at 700-850 nm wavelength. The method for producing the spun yarn comprises wet-heat treating the synthetic fiber having a specific length at a specific temperature by using a water dispersion containing the near infrared ray absorbent, and after drying it, performing spinning by using 20-90 mass% synthetic fiber and 80-10 mass% natural fiber and/or regenerated fiber.
