Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrophotographic printer securing printing quality and reducing wasted paper by making only the last page blank when detecting absence of paper regardless of length of a printing page. SOLUTION: When detecting that the paper 5 is used up, light irradiation from a latent image forming means 20 is intercepted after a predetermined period elapses in accordance with length of the printing paper, and application of high voltage to a transfer unit 4 is turned off, so that printing data is not formed on a surface of a photoreceptor drum 1.
