SOLUTION: The replacement method of the indoor unit for the air conditioner 15 includes: a replacement work space isolating step for surrounding a space of a room 3 directly below the installation location of a decorative panel 19 over the entire area in the height direction using a work space isolating sheet 27 and isolating the space from another space in the room 3; an existing unit detaching step for detaching the decorative panel 19, taking out a body part 17 from an installation port 7a, and detaching an existing indoor unit 16A; and a new unit installing step for installing the new body part 17 from the installation part 7a to an attic space 9, and attaching a new decorative panel 19 to a new body part 17, closing the installation port 7a, and installing a new indoor unit.
