Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicle side collision detecting device capable of detecting a collision of a wide range, capable of saving a space, and capable of facilitating arrangement. SOLUTION: A side door 1 has an outer plate 11, an inner plate 12, a stay 31 and a reinforcing member 13. A space between the inner plate 12 and the outer plate 11 is a moving space for door glass 30 and a stay 31 installed on the lower side of the door glass 30. A coil 2 is arranged on the inner plate 12 side of the stay 31 fixed to the lower side of the door glass 30, and generates a magnetic field. The coil 2 uses the inner plate 12 being a magnetic substance as a detecting object member. In a collision, the coil 2 also moves to the inner plate 12 side by deformation of the stay 31, and a separate distance to the inner plate 12 changes. The coil 2 detects a change in its separate distance as a change in quantity of a magnetic flux.
