Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an induction heating cooking appliance and a program thereof doing away with key operation with convenience enhanced. SOLUTION: The cooking appliance is provided with an infrared-ray sensor detecting infrared-ray energy emitted from a cooking vessel through a top plate, a liquid crystal display means displaying various kinds of information, a backlight illuminating the liquid crystal display means, and a backlight control means controlling the backlight based on an output information of the infrared-ray sensor. Since the backlight gets lit when an output information of the infrared-ray sensor changes, the liquid crystal display means is to be recognized by sight, so that key operations hitherto necessary are done away with to enhance convenience.
