Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an application device and an application method which use a small number of nozzles and do not produce irregularities at borders. SOLUTION: An application device for manufacturing color filters by applying a number (N) of primary color inks using a plurality of inkjet heads (51) is characterized in that head modules (52) consist of one or more inkjet heads (51) for supplying ink of the same color, the head modules (52) being arranged with a pitch P in the scanning direction such that at least the two ends of the head modules (52) in the ink ejection width direction are adjacent or located one on top of the other. The head modules (52) of the head block (50) are arranged in continuous rows of length L at a right angle to the scanning direction, ink of different colours is supplied successively to the head modules (52) of the head block (50), and L is the following equation with respect to the application width W which is necessary for the color filter: L≥W+(N-1)×P (N = 1, 2, 3, etc.).
