Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a compound oxide expressed by general formula A1-xBxMO3+δ (wherein: A denotes a rare earth element; B denotes calcium, strontium or barium; M denotes manganese, iron, cobalt, nickel or the like, respectively, and 0<x≤1.0, and -0.5≤δ≤0.5), and to provide a method for producing a crystalline compound oxide in which a noble metal(s) is solid-dissolved into the M site in the general formula A1-xBxMO3+δ. SOLUTION: Raw materials comprising components such as the oxide or the like of elements occupying an A site, the oxides or the like of elements occupying a B site and the oxides or the like of elements occupying an M site are subjected to wet mixing and pulverization treatment in a water-base medium, so as to prepare the precursor of the above compound oxide (compound hydroxide or compound hydroxide oxide), and this is subjected to heating treatment, thus the above compound oxide can be obtained. Further, the precursor of the above compound oxide and a noble metal salt are mixed and stirred in a solvent, and the product is heat-treated at 500 to 1,300°C, so as to obtain the noble metal solid-dissolved crystalline compound oxide.
