Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric motor which can effectively radiate a switching element and can be reduced in size totally, including a power substrate, and to provide a motorized rotary joint. SOLUTION: The electric motor 4 has a front bracket 7, pivotably supporting a rotary shaft 5 and a rear bracket 8, wherein the power substrate 50 for switching conduction to each phase coil is arranged on the front bracket 7 side via a heat-dissipating sheet 46, while an encoder 40 for detecting the rotation angle of the rotary shaft 5 is arranged on the rear bracket 8 side; and the power substrate 50 is electrically connected to the encoder 40. The power substrate 50 includes the switching element 48, constituting a bridge circuit, wherein the heat dissipating sheet 46, is interposed between the switching element 48 and the front bracket 7, allowing the heat generated in the switching element 48 to be transferred to the front bracket 7 via the heat-dissipating sheet 46.
