Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing a high-quality acrylic filament thread which enables its stable drawing, which is attained as a result of investigation to solve the problems of current technology. SOLUTION: In the method of manufacturing a carbon fiber precursor thread, for which an acrylonitrile polymer solution is spun, drawn underwater, and dried and densified, is secondarily drawn in a steam drawing machine, a steam drawing machine is used which has a labyrinth nozzle having a diameter with a thread filling rate of 8.0-25.0% in the introduction part and a labyrinth nozzle having a diameter with a thread filling rate of 4.5-8.5% in the derivation part, for the secondary drawing.
