Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a flat display device of which the display panel is mounted on a mounting frame with an extremely simple structure and besides without increasing in the number of components to be used. SOLUTION: This is the flat display device which is formed by joining a cathode panel CP equipped with electron emitting regions arrayed in a two-dimensional matrix on a support body, and an anode panel AP in which phosphor regions and anode electrodes are formed on a substrate, at the outer peripheral part via a joint member 40, and in which the display panel DP kept in vacuum is mounted on the mounting frame in a space formed between the cathode panel CP and the anode panel AP through the joint member 40. A display panel mounting part 43 extendedly existing from the joint member 40 and protruding from the display panel DP is equipped, and the display panel DP is mounted on the mounting frame via the display panel mounting part 43.
