Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cooling tower reducing the frequency of strainer cleaning work by reducing mixing of various contaminants and foreign matters into a water collecting tank. SOLUTION: The cooling tower is constituted to circulate cooling water 10 by sprinkling the cooling water 10 on a filler 4 from an upper part of the cooling tower to flow down the filler 4 while contacting outside air, to drip in a lower water tank 8, to further flow to the water collecting tank 9 arranged under a lower water tank 8 continuously with the lower water tank 8, and to flow to a cooling water outlet 9b connected to the water collecting tank 9, wherein the lower water tank 8 is provided with a weir to surround the periphery of an inflow port 9a of the water collecting tank 9, so that the foreign matter 11 accumulated at the bottom part 8b of the lower water tank 8 is prevented from flowing into the water collecting tank 9.
