Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress adverse effects of a disorder in an exposure amount that accompanies control of a diaphragm. SOLUTION: The imaging device includes an imaging unit which photoelectrically converts a subject image to generate an image signal; a diaphragm which controls the quantity of light incident on the imaging unit; a diaphragm control unit which controls the opening amount of the diaphragm; and a control unit which performs control so as not to execute processings that are being carried out, by using the image signal output from the imaging unit, when the diaphragm control unit is operating to control the opening amount of the diaphragm.
