Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a ferrule including an insertion hole in which an optical fiber is easily inserted without being folded or broken, and by which sufficient adhesion strength with the fiber is obtained, capable of suppressing change of connection loss associated with temperature change. SOLUTION: The ferrule 12 includes two pin holes 12a in which a guide pin for positioning it for a counterpart ferrule, and a plurality of insertion holes H for inserting the optical fiber, which is arranged with a predetermined pitch between pin holes. Each insertion hole H includes at least: a guide hole 12d for guiding the optical fiber; a fiber hole 12c connected to the guide hole, in which a tip of the optical fiber is accommodated; and a guide hole 12e connected to the guide hole 12d, which guides the optical fiber in the ferrule. The guide hole 12d and the guide hole 12e are formed in one unit in a taper shape. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
