Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light-emitting device having a sufficient cooling effect using an LED as a light-emitting element, and to provide a vehicle head lamp. SOLUTION: In a light-emitting device 100 having the light-emitting element 10 and a mounting substrate 110 to which the light-emitting element 10 is electrically connected and thermally via an interposer 210, a first space 120 includes in the mounting substrate 110 and a refrigerant 314 to cool the light-emitting element 10 is caused to flow through the inside of the first space 120. The refrigerant 314 for which heat exchange is effected in the first space 120 is subjected to heat exchange at a heat sink 310 provided outside the mounting substrate 110 for heat dissipation.
