Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To minimize the construction length of a mechanical seal assembly, and to minimize fragility of a seal ring cross section. SOLUTION: This device includes a rotation preventive means including a force transmitting ring 10 movably held in the axial direction by a mounting part 1, and an engaging member arranged by dislocating a first engaging member 17 in the circumferential direction to a second engaging member 18, in at least one first engaging member 17 constituted so as to engage with the mounting part 1 and the force transmitting ring 10 in a shape fitting system and at least one second engaging member 18 constituted so as to engage with the force transmitting ring 10 and a seal ring 4 in a shape fitting system. The engaging members 17 and 18 are constituted so as to be received by axial recessed parts 19 and 20 respectively arranged in the other part having a clearance, by respectively projecting in the axial direction to the other part (the seal ring or the force transmitting ring) from the force transmitting ring 10 or the seal ring 4.
