Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the noise produced by the impact of a valve on a pump body during the opening/closing of the valve particularly in the low-speed range of an engine when the valve is held on the pump body movably between the open position and the closed position, and a valve head has a distance from a valve seat at the open position and abuts on the valve seat at the closed position to close the valve in the fuel pump of the direct injection internal combustion engine. SOLUTION: An electromagnetic coil moves the valve to the open position when energized, and to the closed position when deenergized. A control circuit so controls the electromagnetic coil that the energization and the deenergization of the electromagnetic coil can be performed gently. Consequently, the noise of the fuel pump can be reduced while the engine is operated, particularly, in the low-speed range. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
