Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gas generator which is manufactured at low cost and capable of easily ensuring the airtightness between a housing and a holder. SOLUTION: The gas generator 1A comprises a metallic housing 10 and a holder 20, an igniter 30, and a cup-shaped member 40. The housing 10 includes a combustion chamber 17 storing a gas generating agent 52 therein. The holder 20 is fitted to the housing 10 while being inserted in an opening end in the axial direction of the housing 10 facing the combustion chamber 17. The igniter 30 is fixed to the holder 20 while an ignition unit 31 is located on the combustion chamber 17 side. The cup-shaped member 40 is arranged in the combustion chamber 17 so that a transfer charge 36 stored in a transfer charge storage chamber 41a faces the ignition unit 31. The cup-shaped member 40 extends from a part for regulating the transfer charge storage chamber 41a, and is interposed between the housing 10 and the holder 20, and includes a seal part 43 for tightly sealing a space therebetween.
