Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing actuator capable of manufacturing an actuator having a fully tension strength and durability. SOLUTION: The method is for manufacturing an actuator 1, having a corded actuator element 20 made of a dielectric elastomer. An element material 20a which is to be utilized as the actuator element 20 is formed as a corded structure. At least during formation or after formation, the method has a process for manufacturing an incomplete bridge configuration for heating an element material over a bridge-forming temperature of the element material 20a, manufacturing an incomplete bridge-forming body 1b, under a condition of incomplete bridge formation; and a process for manufacturing a complete bridge formation for heating the bridge-forming body 1b, while extending it in an axial direction, to complete the bridging reaction of the incomplete bridge-forming body 1b for a complete bridge forming body 1c.
