PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical connector connecting method, which causes no outflow of refractive index matching agent applied between connecting end surfaces of optical connectors for a long period after connection, and allows detachment of the optical connectors after connection while maintaining an appropriate connecting strength. SOLUTION: The optical connector connecting method for butt-connecting a pair of optical connectors including one or more optical fiber end surfaces 1a aligned with connecting end surfaces 2a of the optical connectors and adhesively fixed thereto comprises: applying a hardener of silicone-based oil containing a catalyst such as platinum to at least one connecting end surface 2a of the pair of optical connectors; applying a main agent that is a silicone-based mixed solution including polyorganosiloxane and polyorganohydrogen siloxane to at least one connecting end surface of the pair of optical connectors, and mutually butting the connecting end surfaces of the pair optical connectors, thereby filling a silicone-based resin cured by reaction of the main agent with the hardener to a minute gap between the end surfaces of the pair of optical connectors.
