Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical fiber sensor that can control the maximum value of the bending loss of an optical fiber and has improved detection sensitivity. SOLUTION: The optical fiber sensor includes: a reception member 1 having a local recess 1b on one surface 1a while the recess 1b and a protrusion 2a for sandwiching an optical fiber 70 form a fitting section; a stressing member 2 having the protrusion 2a; swelling members 3 provided at least at two locations before and behind in the longitudinal direction of the optical fiber 70 at a part excluding the protrusion 2a and at a part sandwiched by the optical fiber 70 at a side where the stressing member 2 is fitted; a support 4 of the swelling member 3 arranged between the swelling member 3 and the optical fiber 70; and a casing 5 for storing all of the reception member 1, stressing member 2, swelling member 3, and support 4. In the optical fiber sensor, the swelling member 3 is swollen in a direction where the stressing member 2 is separated from the reception member 1 when an object to be detected with which the swelling member 3 reacts enters the casing 5.
