Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a joining structure and a method without causing a composition change in a metallic material by heat, by sufficiently providing joining strength and fluid sealability in a short time at joining work by staking (press-fitting included), screw-fastening and laser welding, as the joining structure of two metallic parts fitted by a cylindrical part in a high pressure fuel supply pump. SOLUTION: While an electric current is supplied to any one of the welding connection surfaces formed between a pump housing and a cylinder in the high pressure fuel supply pump, between the pump housing and an installation flange, between the pump housing and a suction or delivery joint, between the pump housing and a damper cover of a pulsation absorbing damper mechanism, between the pump housing and a relief valve mechanism, and between the pump housing and an electromagnetically driven intake valve mechanism, the particular two sections are pressed against each other to generate, along the connection surface, a plastic flow not causing melting due to heat, and form a diffusion-weld region at the connection surface by using the plasstic flow and the relative application of the pressure.
