Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve assembling efficiency when an electromagnetic suspension unit is installed to a body. SOLUTION: This electromagnetic suspension unit 10 includes a short-circuiting switch for short-circuiting or opening a coil array of an electric motor. The short-circuiting switch is a normally closed switch and is switched to an open state when voltage is applied to a relay. In a closed state of the short-circuiting switch, the coil array is short-circuited, and braking force is applied to the electric motor. An approaching/separating force generating device therefore is contracted when the electromagnetic suspension unit 10 is raised by a lifter 286 to be mounted on a body 282, and damping force is applied in that case. When an opening device 300 is connected to a connector 26 of the electromagnetic suspension unit 10 to make the short-circuiting switch into an opened state, resistance force becomes small.
