Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect overdischarge of a battery as a function of the battery status detection device thereof, identify the cause of its occurrence, and to clearly specify the cause to the user and prompt the user to take appropriate measures, thereby preventing the recurrence of overdischarge, as the battery being used can be overdischarged for many reasons and thus even the auxiliary charge or replacement of the battery results in a recurrence of overdischarge in many cases. SOLUTION: The battery status display system ascertains the cause of overdischarge, from the relationship between a battery minimum voltage required with an engine stopped and a travel frequency and from the relationship between the battery minimum voltage required with the engine stopped and a battery average voltage used with the engine operating.
