Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simply detect an irregular-shape disk without increasing the number of installed detection elements such as switches or sensors for detecting a disk insertion position. SOLUTION: The disk detection part 40 of an optical disk driving device is provided with a second arm 401 movable along the outer peripheral part of an optical disk 102 according to a disk loading operation from the insertion port of a loading mechanism to an optical disk drive, and a disk detection switch SW4 disposed in the surface of the second arm 401 facing the outer peripheral part of the optical disk 102 to be turned ON/OFF according to a space with the outer peripheral part. Whether the optical disk 102 is circular is detected based on the detection result of the disk detection switch SW4. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
