Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device to track the position of an object, which accommodates air traffic safety requirements, relating to the emission of electromagnetic radiation. SOLUTION: This invention pertains to a device for the tracking of an object, comprising a wireless communication unit (4) for the transmission of data via a wireless communication network (11), a measuring device (2) and a controller (3), wherein the wireless communication unit (4) is controlled via the controller (3) and wherein the measuring device (2) is connected to the controller (3). The present invention provides, based on the measuring device (2), the detection of a first transportation status, in which the device is located inside an aircraft or is in the state of flight. The detection of the transportation status of the device by the measuring device in an aircraft or in flight offers the opportunity to control other features of the device, in particular, with regard to the wireless communication unit, in such manner as not to interfere with the electronic controls of an aircraft. If the absence of the first transportation status is detected with sufficient confidence, the wireless communication unit will be activated, based on feasible additional criteria, and a set of data will be sent to a data center.
