Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To stabilize print quality by detecting abnormality of the surface of a heating roller such as wearing or peeling of a film and to extend service life of the heating roller by determining the accurate service life of the heating roller. SOLUTION: The accurate service life of the heating roller is judged by a method in which a temperature detecting means disposed in the axial direction of the surface of the heating roller and capable of detecting the surface temperatures of a plurality of areas, compares a first surface temperature detected by a first temperature detecting means in the axial direction of the heating roller and a second surface temperature detected by a second temperature detecting means adjacent to it, and detects the abnormality on the surface of a heating roller when their difference exceeds a predetermined temperature, or by a method in which it compares a surface temperature at a first time of day stored in a storage device and a surface temperature at the same point at a second time of day and it detects the abnormality on the surface of the heating roller when the their difference exceeds a predetermined temperature difference.
