Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a carbon fiber composite material by using carbon nano fibers, and the carbon fiber composite material. SOLUTION: This method for producing the carbon fiber composite material comprises a process (a) and a process (b). The process (a) is provided by putting-in an ultra high molecular weight polyethylene 30 into an open roll 1 having a roll 20 set at a first temperature for winding the polymer over the roll 20, further putting-in carbon nanofibers 40 and mixing to obtain a mixture. The process (b) is provided by putting the mixture in the open roll 1 having the roll set at a second temperature and milling with a tight nip to disperse the carbon nano fibers by a shearing force. The first temperature is the temperature of melting the ultra high molecular weight polyethylene 30 and winding it over the roll 20 in the first process (a) and is a higher temperature than that of the second temperature.
