Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a phosphonium ionic liquid in which a Grignard reagent can stably exist and the homocoupling reaction of a Grignard reagent can proceed at a low temperature in a short time in a high yield and also provide a method for producing a biaryl compound at a low temperature in a short time in a high yield by the homocoupling reaction of a Grignard reagent using the phosphonium ionic liquid as a reaction solvent. SOLUTION: The ionic liquid comprises a compound represented by the general formula (1) (wherein R1, R2, R3and R4are each independently an alkyl group; n is an integer of 1-10; and Z-is selected from a sulfonylimide anion or the like). The method for producing a biaryl compound comprises the homocoupling of a Grignard reagent using the ionic liquid as a solvent. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
