Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce adverse effects of cutting debris or dust when positioning of a mask. SOLUTION: This active matrix type organic EL panel comprises a plurality of organic EL elements 50 each having an organic layer 60 including at least organic light emitting material between a lower individual electrode 52 individually patterned for every picture element and an upper electrode 54, and formed on the upper side of a substrate. An end cover insulating layer 32a is formed covering the peripheral end of the lower individual electrode 52, and an upper insulating layer is formed on the outer periphery side of the end cover insulating layer with its thickness greater than that of the end cover insulating layer to support the organic layer forming deposition mask. The organic layer 60 is formed ranging to the outside of a boundary between the end cover insulating layer 32a and the lower individual electrode 52, and individually pattered for every picture element so as to be terminated in the inside of a region of forming the upper insulating layer 32b. Thus, the mask is supported and positioned on the upper insulating layer while preventing damage to the organic layer in contact with the mask or the occurrence of dust. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
